NIH Office of Dietary Supplements Workshop on Natural Products
On September 13-14, 2018 the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplement is sponsoring a free Public Workshop on Natural Products. The purpose is to enhance the progression of Natural Products Research from foundational data (e.g., preclinical, epidemiology), to actionable Public Health information.

The International Conference on Pharmaceutical Research and Development (Pharma Research 2018, will be held during June 06-07, 2018 in Philadelphia. The 2018 Conference is a multidisciplinary program with broad participation with members from around the globe representing the Pharma Research community: academia, research entities, medical groups, government agencies, pharmaceutical, biomedical and medical device industries.
HeteroGeneity has been invited to participate in the “”Drug Development and Innovation Track”. Dr Hoffman and Dr. Tamayo will address the clinical development and regulatory considerations of botanical drugs, with a focus on the US market. The session wil touch upon the differences between botanicals and NCEs and how these differences impact the types, designs, and even the timeline of clinical studies conducted for US drug development. I addition how the FDA defines a “botanical” and the implications of the US regulatory approach on the development and approval of this renewed drug category, along with some of the lingering hurdles to this special category of new drugs will be discussed.
